Jeepers Creepers: Jazz Cafe

Sebastian presents an evening of swing and early bebop with a live performance by Jeepers Creepers. This time, the trio sings and plays guitar, saxophone, flute and double bass in “Swing to Bop: The Music of Charlie Christian”.

Charlie Christian was the guitarist who brought the electric guitar to the front of the band with the Benny Goodman Sextet in the late 1930s. His late-night jam sessions at Minton’s Playhouse in Harlem helped shape what became bebop.

Jeepers Creepers, formed in Athens in 2017 and named after the Harry Warren classic made famous by Louis Armstrong, the band has spent nearly a decade bringing the swing-jazz idiom to life across Greece, New York, and Holland (from Kardamili Jazz Festival to Djangofest Athens), leaving audiences with no choice but to dance all night long.

On Saturday 14 November, Elisavet Mitsou (guitar and vocals), Stergios Polyzos (saxophone and flute) and Charilaos Pantazis (double bass) bring their sound to the Athenian Riviera.
